Music Ministry

The music program at First United Methodist Church exists primarily to assist the congregation in the worship of God. Through worship, we become more aware of God and His holiness. As our minds are filled with the truth of God’s Word, we are awed by His majesty and power. Through worship, we gain a vision of God which results in our obedience to Him.  Finally, when we worship God, we grow in Christ and are inspired to serve God each day in every opportunity that comes our way. We believe that music brings us into a sense of the presence of God. We believe that music gives expression to our spiritual experiences. For many of us, singing is as close to worship as breathing is to life itself.

Our 11 a.m. worship service on Sundays in our sanctuary is filled with singing, including the great hymns of our faith. Our choir sings at this service, blessing us all with their messages in song. In addition to singing at each worship service on Sundays, the choir prepares special musical programs for the Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons.  Rehearsals are Wednesday night from 7 – 8:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Choir members SING FROM THEIR HEARTS as everyone who hears them can attest.  You do not have to be able to read music to join our Choir, but it would be good if you can carry a tune! Whether you sing or play an instrument, God can use you to lead others in Worship at Pleasant Valley UMC.  If you have any questions, please contact  the church office at (770) 267-2028.
