Pleasant Valley UMC partners with many churches in Walton County through the ministry of F.I.S.H (Faith in Serving Humanity).F.I.S.H. was conceived by the local ministerial association as a way to respond to the truly needy in the community. FISH offers a variety of services to qualifying neighbors in Walton County. Some services are offered directly through F.I.S.H. and  others are offered through their network of contacts. Some services require funding and others are provided through volunteer services.  After an evaluation of needs, F.I.S.H assists many friends and neighbors in ways such as:

  • Rental and Utility Assistance
  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Furniture
  • Transportation Assistance
  • Prescription Payments
  • Emergency Shelter
  • Children’s Summer Feeding Program
  • Backpack Buddies – weekend feeding program for children
  • Low-cost Thrift Store
  • Daily Devotionals
  • Educational Assistance
F.I.S.H. operates as a nonprofit charity with 501 (c) (3) status, making all donations tax-deductible. Sponsoring churches provide spiritual guidance, financial support, and food to stock the food pantry.
The staff is almost entirely volunteer, with over 200 active volunteers,and comes from our supporting churches. We have three full-time paid staff persons, and nine part-time staff persons.
